A Friday night lineup on 2 October 2026 produced a counterintuitive outcome for ABC. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune posted a strong return as Pat Sajak remained absent from the main stage, while 20/20 also rose and a Penn State/Northwestern college football game led the night. The juxtaposition raises a direct question about legacy, hosting transition and franchise durability.
