The dunkin bears hat giveaway is not a nationwide promo. It is Chicago only, time locked, and tied to a purchase. If you want the dad hat, you need to be in the right place at 1 p.m. on September 17 2026.
Dunkin x Chicago Bears Merch Giveaway Overview
Dunkin is running a Bears-themed merch drop to coincide with the start of football season hype. The centerpiece is a Chicago Bears dad hat handed out at Chicago-area Dunkin locations. Coverage from ABC7 Chicago and Secret Chicago confirms the hat is free with a drink purchase, not free outright.
Promotion date is Thursday September 17 2026. Start time is 1 p.m. sharp. No pre-registration exists. That is where most people get burned.
Da Donut and Da Brew Launch Details
The hat is part of a larger Bears collab. Dunkin launches two Bears-inspired items the same day in Chicago stores.
Da Donut is the new Bears-inspired donut. Da Brew is the new Bears-inspired coffee drink. Both roll out in Chicago area stores on September 17 2026 alongside the hat giveaway. Availability is limited to participating Chicago locations. The exact flavor profile is kept vague by Dunkin, but the branding is orange and navy with Bears cues.
Back to the hat. The drink purchase requirement applies to any drink, not just Da Donut or Da Brew. Buying the new items does not guarantee extra hats.
Free Hat Giveaway Time and Hidden Claim Conditions
Official start time is 1 p.m. on September 17 2026. Lines form earlier. The promo is first come, first served while supplies last.
Hidden condition 1: purchase required. You must buy a drink to get the hat. No drink, no hat.
Hidden condition 2: limit one per customer. Staff will ask for a receipt. No bulk grabs.
Hidden condition 3: no online orders. Mobile order pickup does not qualify for the physical hat. You need in-store pickup and a face-to-face request.
Early arrival is recommended. 30 to 45 minutes before 1 p.m. is realistic for high traffic stores.
Official Chicago Area Dunkin Locations Participating

| North Suburbs | Confirmed | Moderate stock, shorter lines |
| West Suburbs | Confirmed | Moderate stock |
| South Suburbs | Confirmed | Moderate stock |
| NW Indiana | Confirmed per ABC7 map | Check local store, allocation varies |
How to check your local store. Call ahead before 12 p.m. on September 17. Ask specifically about the Bears dad hat stock. Dunkin does not publish a store-level list.
How to Claim Your Free Chicago Bears Dad Hat Step by Step
Arrive before 1 p.m. to queue outside. The line moves fast once doors open.
Place a drink purchase at the counter. Any size counts.
Request the Bears-themed dad hat at pickup. Do not wait for staff to offer it.
If stock runs out, ask for the next restock time. It will not happen. Once gone, it is gone for that store.
Tips to Beat the Crowd and Avoid Missing Out
Best stores with higher stock allocation are high volume locations near stadiums and downtown. Avoid tiny strip mall stores.
Weekday afternoon crowd patterns spike between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. The initial rush is 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Alternative pickup times after initial rush can work at 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. if the store had a large batch. Risky.
Follow Dunkin Chicago social accounts and Secret Chicago for real time sellout reports. People post when a store is empty within minutes.
