MLB released the 2026 NLDS format and the structure locks the NL West winner into games one and two on the road before returning home. The arrangement rewards regular season seeding with home field but punishes geography with cross country travel and compressed recovery. For the Dodgers the calendar now shapes roster decisions more than matchup quality.
