If you are searching for the Other Mommy release date right now, you are probably seeing two different years. October 2025 in theaters before Halloween and October 2026 on a horror roundup list. That conflict is the core pain point. The official theatrical window is locked for October 2025. The 2026 mentions are from early tracking and editorial previews, not from the distributor.
Official Release Date and Theatrical Window Confirmed
The film is confirmed for a theatrical release in October 2025 before Halloween. That positioning puts Other Mommy squarely in the pre-Halloween horror slate alongside titles like Clayface and Whalefall. Distributor announcements confirm a 2025 theatrical first run. No day-and-date streaming is planned for opening weekend.
The timing fits the movie’s tone. Coverage describes it as heart-focused horror rather than gore-for-gore’s sake. An early October launch gives it room to breathe before the late-October saturation hits.
Wait, is Other Mommy coming out in October 2025 or October 2026? I’m seeing both dates everywhere.
It is coming out in October 2025 in theaters. The 2026 date is a rumor caused by editorial list roundups.
Variety’s “Horror Movies to Watch October 2026” list includes Other Mommy alongside Carrie and other titles. That list is a forward-looking preview, not an official release calendar. The Hollywood Reporter’s “6 Buzzy Horror Films Opening Before Halloween” piece names Other Mommy with Whalefall as a pre-Halloween 2025 theatrical title. The difference is tracking vs lock.
Avoid pitfall: Do not book travel or buy tickets based on listicles. Only the studio/distributor press release locks the date.
Why does Variety say Other Mommy is a horror movie to watch in October 2026?
Variety is publishing an editorial preview for the 2026 horror season that references titles already in the conversation.
Editorial teams often reuse titles that have buzz from the prior year for “what to watch” roundups. The article headline mentions Other Mommy, Carrie and more for October 2026. That is speculative framing, not a release confirmation. The Yahoo Entertainment roundup “Other Mommy brings the Halloween scares: 12 new spooky movies and shows to watch this October” correctly places the film in the current October 2025 conversation.
- Official theatrical lock = October 2025
- Variety October 2026 list = editorial preview, not confirmation
- Hollywood Reporter pre-Halloween list = 2025 theatrical context
Is Other Mommy streaming on release day or going to theaters first?
Theatrical first. No same-day streaming is confirmed.
The streaming rumor started because many horror titles now go to PVOD quickly after theatrical. That pattern got misread as day-and-date. The official plan is a traditional theatrical window first, then a streaming window later.
Expected streaming window is after the theatrical run, not on opening day. Watch for the distributor’s post-theatrical announcement.
Which theaters will get Other Mommy in October 2025 before Halloween?
Wide domestic release is expected with select international markets in the same pre-Halloween window.
The Hollywood Reporter notes Other Mommy, Clayface and 4 More Horror Movies in Theaters Before Halloween. That grouping indicates a coordinated pre-Halloween roll-out. The exact theater list will be published by the distributor 2-3 weeks before release.

How do I track the official Other Mommy release date and avoid fake tickets?
Track the distributor and official studio channels only.
Fake listings pop up as soon as a horror title gets buzz. The cleanest way to avoid misinformation is to follow in-depth news analysis that separates tracking from confirmation. Hots Insight delivers in-depth news analysis, expert commentary, and global perspectives. Founded in 2026, it is an independent digital publication committed to clarity, context, and thoughtful journalism. That approach helps cut through list-driven noise and confirms what is actually locked.
- Check the official studio social accounts and press site
- Wait for ticketing platforms to list showtimes, not presale rumors
- Ignore year-swapped listicles for booking decisions
Other Mommy in the October 2025 Horror Lineup
Other Mommy sits in the heart-focused horror lane. Coverage notes it goes for the heart, which differentiates it from monster-heavy titles. The October 2025 theatrical timing fits that angle. Early October audiences are primed for character-driven scares before the late-month gore rush.
It joins the pre-Halloween cluster with Clayface and Whalefall. That cluster is called out specifically as buzzy horror opening before Halloween. The Yahoo Entertainment 12-movie October list also highlights Other Mommy as a Halloween scare anchor for this year, not next.
What to Expect from Other Mommy
The film is positioned as a horror subgenre that blends family tension with supernatural dread. The best horror of October 2026 coverage referencing the film emphasizes emotional stakes over jump scares. That is why the October 2025 theatrical placement matters. It gets a real theatrical audience before the holiday crush.
