It is 6:45 PM ET, you are ready for Phillies vs Nationals, and the stream just says blacked out. The game is local for both teams, the RSNs are different, and MLB.tv will not help you. That is the classic Phillies Nationals headache. This guide cuts through the regional sports network mess, blackout rules, and carriage disputes so you know exactly how to watch tonight.
Quick Answer: What Channel Are The Phillies On Tonight and What Channel Are The Nationals On
For a Nationals home game the primary home feed is on MASN. Phillies fans get the away feed on NBC Sports Philadelphia. If the game is a Phillies home game the roles flip. Tonight Phillies @ Nationals is at Nationals Park, so Washington owns the home broadcast.
Start time is typically 7:05 PM ET for a weeknight National League East matchup. Check the official MLB schedule for confirmation, as rain delays can shift it.
Tonight’s Game Info: Date, Start Time and Location
The midweek 2-game set against Phillies is on the horizon for the Nats. Federal Baseball notes the set is part of the late September push. Location is Nationals Park in Washington DC. First pitch is usually 7:05 PM ET on weeknights.
Phillies Broadcast Home: NBC Sports Philadelphia Coverage
NBC Sports Philadelphia carries all Phillies home and select away games. The network is the exclusive regional home for Philadelphia. Out of market viewers cannot get it without a live TV package that carries the RSN.
Nationals Broadcast Home: MASN Coverage
MASN is the Nationals regional sports network. It covers Nationals home games and carries the Phillies away feed when the teams meet in Washington. MASN availability is limited compared to NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Core Pain Points for Fans
Why is the Phillies Nationals game on different channels in Philadelphia and Washington DC?
Answer: Because each team owns its own regional rights. The Phillies sell their broadcast rights to NBC Sports Philadelphia and the Nationals sell theirs to MASN. MLB does not force a single national feed for regular season divisional games.
That means Philadelphia viewers see the Phillies announcers on NBC Sports Philadelphia, and Washington viewers see the Nationals announcers on MASN. Same game, two feeds. Short version: two markets, two networks.
- Check which team is home to know which RSN has the primary feed.
- Do not expect a unified channel for Phillies Nationals.
Why am I blacked out on MLB.tv even though Phillies vs Nationals is not national TV?
Answer: MLB.tv blackouts every game in the home team’s territory and in the visiting team’s territory. Phillies Nationals is blacked out in both Philadelphia and Washington DC, plus surrounding counties.
MLB enforces blackouts to protect RSN deals. Even if the game is not on ESPN or FOX, MLB.tv will block it for in-market fans. That is the rule.
- MLB.tv works only for true out-of-market games.
- Use RSN or live TV streaming for in-market viewing.
Can I watch Phillies vs Nationals on MLB.tv tonight?
Answer: No if you live in Phillies or Nationals blackout territory. Yes if you live outside both zones.
MLB.tv is a great out-of-market tool, but it is useless for this divisional rivalry for fans in the Mid-Atlantic. The blackout map is strict.
What streaming service has NBC Sports Philadelphia and MASN in 2025?
Answer: It depends where you live and which carriage deal is active. Availability changes.
| Service | NBC Sports Philadelphia | MASN | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dish | Yes | Yes | Traditional satellite, RSNs included |
| DirecTV | Yes | Yes | Traditional satellite, RSNs included |
| Fubo | Select markets | Limited | Carriage varies by state |
| YouTube TV | No | No | RSNs dropped in many markets |
| Hulu Live | No | No | RSNs dropped in many markets |
Why can’t I find NBC Sports Philadelphia or MASN on YouTube TV, Hulu Live and Fubo?
Answer: Carriage disputes and cost. RSNs are expensive. YouTube TV and Hulu Live dropped many RSNs in 2023-2024, and Fubo carries them only where contracts allow.
That is why fans lose access overnight. The network is available, your streaming app is not.
- Check the service’s channel lineup by ZIP code before subscribing.
- Call provider and confirm RSN package.
